Company Profile

Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska, a. s., was incorporated into the Commercial Registry of the Slovak Republic on the 31st December, 2009.

The creation of the new designing company was agreed upon by the European Commission and thereafter, by the Government of the Slovak Republic, which approved a proposal for the foundation of the JESS company by its Resolution No 893/2009 of 9 December 2009. The establishment of Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska, a. s. enabled the preparation for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice.

Jadrová energetická spoločnosť Slovenska, a. s., is a joint venture of the Slovak Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. (JAVYS) which owns 51% share and the Czech power group, ČEZ, which owns 49% share of the company.

The partners of the project are bound by a common history. Until 1993 the Czech and Slovak Republics had a common power system. Both countries jointly constructed nuclear power plants based on a pressurized water reactor technology (Jaslovské Bohunice, Dukovany, Mochovce, Temelín), up to now they have a similar structure of power sources, legal and regulatory environment as well as persisting commercial and personal links.

The registered capital of the company was defined as 216 357 000 EUR. Resulting from an agreement by both partners, the managers control projects on the principle of equity and the consensus of both partners.

Vision and Mission

The Vision of the Company is to build a state-of-art nuclear power plant with an objective to generate electricity safely and effectively as soon as possible.

The mission of the company is to execute the project by the most efficient means possible and consequently, to assure construction and to produce electricity in the nuclear power plant in an economically effective and safe manner.

The implementation will be assured in consideration of

maximum safety,
minimum impact on the environment,
energy security of Slovakia,
economical effectiveness.

In accordance with the interest of the Slovak Republic to produce electricity from carbon-free sources in the future as a response to the current climate changes in the world, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved on 08.09.2021 a proposal to expand the scope of business of the commercial company JESS to include activities in the field of electricity production from renewable energy sources and hydrogen production .

Policies

To fulfill the visions and missions of the company, its management approved three basic sets of rules and principles to be implemented within company’s activities: quality policy, occupational safety and health protection policy and environmental policy.

Quality policy

The quality policy defines a quality management system, i.e. the principles of its implementation. The quality management system is a part of the integrated management system of the company and presents a basic tool of its control. The quality management system is part of the company’s integrated management system and is a basic management tool.

Occupational safety and health protection policy

The occupational safety and health protection policy defines principles aiming to assurance of safety and health protection of employees and other persons attending in premises and workplaces of the company.

Environmental policy

The environmental policy presents a set of principles related to environmental protection to be observed by the company and each employee by fulfilling the vision and mission of the company.
