The Prime Ministers of the Czech and Slovak Republics signed a Memorandum of cooperation between power industries of both countries today in Bratislava. The Memorandum provides a support to implementation of common steps. One of them consists of supporting construction of new electricity generating sources including a nuclear power plant and to support to negotiations between JAVYS and ČEZ on establishing of a joint venture between these two companies on which a decision was made today by the Slovak Government.
An objective of the joint venture consists of a construction of new nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice.
“We highly appreciate the opportunity that is presented to us by this Memorandum. It is an honour for us to be a partner of the Slovak Government in constructing nuclear power plant in Slovakia. During privatization process of Slovenské elektrárne we already declared that, regardless of the privatization of SE we will henceforth strengthen our presence in the Slovak market. The Memorandum signed today, launches next project which enables us to engage in Slovakia. Furthermore, the nuclear power industry is a highly ecological and economical energy source. Both countries will use nuclear power in the long term and will utilize top experts in this area, therefore this partnership brings synergy for both parties,” said Martin Roman, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ČEZ.
Apart from the Czech Republic, ČEZ Group has been conducting business in more than ten countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe. ČEZ Group is largest supplier of electricity in Slovakia; together with MOL Group it is involved in the construction of CCGT with installed capacity of 800 MW in area of Slovnaft in Bratislava.
